Getting Your Sidel Heating Just Right
If you’ve spent any time around PET blowing, you know the headache of uneven heat. One minute everything is fine, and the next, you’re staring at wall thickness issues or that annoying pearlescence. It’s frustrating. That’s why we make our infrared lamps. They’re built specifically for Sidel SBO and Matrix ovens, and they fit right in. No hacking the machine, no weird workarounds. Just a clean fit.
The Nitty-Gritty on Fitment
We don’t do “close enough.” We build these to match the electrical and physical specs of your original gear exactly. Whether you’re still rocking an old SBO or you’ve moved up to a new Matrix line, the voltage and wattage have to be spot on. If they aren’t, you’re either looking at a blown fuse or plastic that just isn’t getting hot enough. We use high-purity quartz glass because it actually lets the shortwave radiation get into the PET wall. Plus, we keep the dimensions tight. This means the lamps slide into the reflectors easily—no forcing them, no stressing the glass. And since we use standard R7s and Sk15 connectors, you can swap them out quickly during a changeover and get back to work.
Keeping Things Cool (and Stable)
Inside the lamp, we use a halogen cycle. It keeps the tungsten filament stable so the lamp doesn’t just burn out the moment you push it hard. We also offer specific coatings to tune the heat. The goal is to push that energy into the preform, not waste it heating up the oven walls. One quick tip: these high-wattage tubes put out a ton of heat.**Check your cooling blowers.**If they’re clogged with dust, the ends of the lamps will overheat, and your seals will fail way sooner than they should.
Putting Them to Work
These are simple drop-in replacements. You won’t be drilling new holes or messing with the wiring. We’ve already mapped out the heater layouts for the whole Sidel range. This ensures the heat stays consistent across all your oven zones, which means your cycle times stay steady and you aren’t tossing a mountain of scrap every time you start the machine.
