
Getting the Heat Right in Your Husky HyPET Lines
If you’re running high-speed Husky HyPET lines, you already know the struggle. It’s not about how much power you throw at the preforms—it’s about where that heat actually goes. There is nothing more frustrating than seeing the surface of your plastic scorch while the core is still cold. We’ve all been there. That’s exactly why we built our replacement lamps. They’re designed to handle those brutal SMF cycle times without breaking a sweat. The trick to deep heating Most standard lamps just hit the surface. It’s like trying to thaw a frozen steak with a blowtorch—the outside burns before the middle even wakes up. We do things differently. By tweaking the filament temperature and the quartz itself, we use a short-wave infrared spectrum that actually digs deep into the PET. You get a consistent temperature through the entire wall of the preform. No cold spots. No surprises. Plug and play (really) We didn’t want you to have to rewire your entire floor just to upgrade your lamps. These are drop-in replacements. Whether you’re on 230V or 400V, we’ve matched the OEM dimensions and electrical loads perfectly. We also used reinforced R7s or Sk15 connectors. Why? Because loose connections cause arcing, and arcing kills your sockets. It’s a simple fix that saves a massive headache. A couple of things to keep in mind Since these lamps pack a more concentrated punch, you’ll want to check your oven’s ventilation. If your cooling fans are choked with dust or just acting up, that extra energy can make the furnace housing run hotter than you’d like. And please, keep the tubes clean. If PET condensate or dust builds up on the glass, it absorbs the IR energy. That creates hot spots, and hot spots lead to cracked tubes. A quick cleaning schedule keeps everything running smooth and keeps that heat penetrating where it belongs.
