
Stop Fighting Your Oven: Better Lamps for Sacmi SBF 24 and Sidel Systems
If you’re a plant engineer, you know the drill. Trying to keep heat profiles consistent across different generations of blowing machines is a total nightmare. You’ve got the old SBO systems on one side and the newer Matrix series on the other, and getting them to play nice is a constant struggle. That’s why we built these replacement lamps. We wanted something that just works. No rewiring the oven, no messing around with brackets, and no “making it fit.” You just pop them in and get back to work. Let’s talk power. The Sacmi SBF 24 and Sidel lines need high-wattage shortwave infrared lamps to get those preforms to the right temperature fast. We don’t mess with the specs here; we match the original OEM voltage and wattage exactly. Why? Because if you throw a lower-voltage lamp into a high-voltage circuit, it’ll be toast in a few hours. It’s that simple. We also keep a very tight leash on the filament length. If the heat density isn’t uniform across the whole tube, you get “cold spots.” And cold spots mean uneven walls in your PET bottles, which is the last thing you need when you’re trying to hit a quota. The nitty-gritty on installation Depending on your machine, we use R7s or Sk15 connectors. We make sure they seat firmly in the socket so you don’t have to worry about arcing. The quartz glass is the real hero here. It’s treated to handle the brutal, rapid heating and cooling that happens in high-speed blowing. And we’re obsessed with the size. If a lamp is even 2mm too long, it won’t sit in the clamp. Too short? You’re losing heating surface. We make sure it’s just right. One quick heads-up Here’s the thing: high-output lamps are great for fast cycle times, but they’re hard on your reflectors. You can’t just swap the lamp and call it a day. If your mirrors are pitted or oxidized, you’re going to lose efficiency, no matter how good the lamp is. It’s like putting a brand new engine in a car with flat tires. Do yourself a favor: check your reflector alignment every time you swap a tube. It takes a minute and saves you a ton of wasted energy.
